The Forest Preserves of Cook County offer a great variety of programming throught the winter, some inside, some out, some for kids, families, birders, hikers, gardeners, you name it!

SLEDDING! - Caldwell Woods - Any day with 3" of snow on the ground - Have a blast from 10am - 9pm on one of FPCC's five lit sledding hills.

Sustainable Seed Starting - Native Plants - January 13 - Start some milkweed so it's ready to plant on Chicago River Day, May 12, 2018! Milkweed is essential habitat for the monarch butterfly, our spirit animal (insect) for the year. Learn more about monarchs here.

Winter Wonders Hike - January 14 - Get out and enjoy one of the gems of the FPCC near the Cal-Sag Channel.

Make and Take - Pinecone Birdfeeders - January 20 - We can all support wildlife in our own backyards with these homemade birdfeeders. 

Illinois Eagle Day - January 27 - Learn about our national bird and celebrate it's comeback!

History of Women in Nature - February 10 - Discover the women who helped shape the environmental movement.

Winter Wandering along Thorn Creek - February 17 - Take a hike along Thorn Creek, a southern tributary of the Chicago River.
